Red Rocks

Accessed from Mill Lane through a stile on the right.  Follow the path which goes into the cemetery and goes through to Manchester Road.  To reach Red Rocks you turn left off this path.  Access is more difficult in the summer because of the mass of Himalayan balsam which covers the path.

The area known as Red Rocks is on the banks of the Micker Brook where it runs across the far end of the cemetery on its way to the River Mersey.  This was once a popular bathing spot for Cheadle children.

Roman coins have been found in this area, with others found in Massie Street, the banks of the Micker Brook near Broadway, around Barnes Hospital and at Cheadle Wood Farm, (the Farm was once part of Abney Hall and is now separated from the Hall by the motorway).
